A day after the Congress faced a big defeat at the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, former MP Chief Minister and Congress leader Kamal Nath met CM Shivraj Singh Chohan at his residence in Bhopal on Monday.

After his meeting with Chouhan, Kamal Nath said that he has given him an assurance that, as an opposition party, Congress will do whatever it takes for the development of the state. The president of the grand old party’s MP unit further stated that a meeting of the party’s candidates has been called and a study will be done over the loss in the state.

Speaking to the reporters, Kamal Nath said, “I met CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and congratulated him for the victory. He also came to meet me when I became the CM. I assured him that as the opposition, we will do whatever it takes for the development of the state…I have called a meeting of all the candidates of our party. We will do a study of our loss. I will also visit Delhi and meet Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.”

The Shivraj Singh Chouhan led BJP registered a thumping victory in the MP Polls after defeating the Congress as it won 163 of the total 230 seats. Congress sank further and could manage only 66. The party outperformed itself to continue its reign in the state. However, as of now, there’s still doubt if Shivraj rule MP again or if the saffron party has some other plans for him.
