During a highly anticipated face-off in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) age group tournament, the sons of cricket legends Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag, Anvay Dravid, and Aaryavir Sehwag, showcased their skills as Karnataka clashed with Delhi in the Vijay Merchant Trophy National U-16 boys’ tournament in Andhra Pradesh. The three-day match, pitting Karnataka against Delhi in the Vijay Merchant Trophy National U-16 boys’ tournament, evoked nostalgia as it featured a Dravid and a Sehwag on opposing sides, reminiscent of India’s cricketing golden era.

On the opening day, young Dravid faced a tough start, being dismissed for a duck, while junior Sehwag made an impact by finishing unbeaten on 50. The ‘Sehwag vs Dravid’ contest in junior cricket injected excitement into the match, reminiscent of the iconic battles between these two stalwarts in their playing days.

As the next generation of Indian cricket’s golden era begins to carve its path, this clash provided a glimpse into the promising talent emerging in the country’s cricketing landscape.

In the meantime, while Arjun Tendulkar has already made his IPL debut and consistently plays for Goa, Dravid’s elder son Samit is representing Karnataka in the Cooch Behar Trophy (National U-19 Meet). Samit, however, missed the India U-19 opportunity following a moderate performance in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy (U-19 One Dayers), where he scored one half-century.

In the ongoing U-16 match between Delhi and Karnataka at the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) Stadium in Mangalagiri, Anvay, Dravid’s son, faced a challenging start, getting out for a duck after just two deliveries, leading to Karnataka being all out for 144 in their innings.

On the other hand, Aryavir, Sehwag’s son, exhibited an impressive performance, ending unbeaten on 50 from 98 balls for Delhi. His innings comprised seven fours and a six, showcasing shot-making reminiscent of his famous father. Aryavir’s stance and boundary shots echoed Sehwag’s aggressive style of play.
