WhatsApp New Feature: Users Might Soon Be Able To Upload Status Update Videos Of Up To 60 Seconds

WhatsApp has been rolling out features constantly to make communication more easier and better between users. The instant messaging platform has evolved significantly compared to what it was a decade back. Now, according to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing another feature and it might start permitting users to share videos of up to one minute in the status updates. As of now, Android beta testers can try this feature in the application’s iteration labelled 2.24.7.6.

The report has highlighted the significance for users to be aware of the need to update WhatsApp if they want to watch the extended videos shared via status updates.

The report read, “Over time, users have consistently requested the ability to share longer videos as their status updates. With the previous 30-second limit, users often found themselves constrained when trying to convey a comprehensive story or share longer snippets of their lives. Now, with the one-minute duration, users have the freedom to share more extensive video content without the need for cumbersome edits or compromises on the message they want to convey.”

It is expected that the functionality will be made available to even more people over the coming weeks. 

Other Updates For WhatsApp Users

Earlier this week, an update was rolled out for WhatsApp on Android, introducing a fresh design. The Android version of the messaging platform now adopts a navigation bar at the bottom, mirroring the layout seen in the iOS counterpart. This navigation bar encompasses distinct sections for chats, updates, communities, and calls, a departure from their previous placement at the top of the screen.

In related developments, WhatsApp has implemented a restriction preventing users from capturing screenshots of contact profile pictures. Although the company hasn’t officially announced this change, the feature is gradually being rolled out to Android users worldwide. When attempting to take a screenshot of a user’s profile picture on WhatsApp for Android, no error or warning message appears; however, the screenshot appears blacked-out in place of the profile image. This restriction applies solely to the full profile picture view, while screenshots can still be captured in the profile view mode, where the profile picture is displayed in a small circular pop-out window.
