Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge questioned the difference between those announcing a bounty on TN Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and other radicals across the world on Tuesday. The Minister also asked those people whether their religion does not teach mercy and equality. Earlier, Ayodhya Seer Paramhans Acharya announced a reward of Rs 10 crore for those who beheaded the DMK leader. The whole episode started after Udhayanidhi Stalin made a statement which created controversy across the country.

Udhayanidhi equated Sanatan Dharma with fever, mosquitoes causing dengue, malaria etc., and said that Sanatanam (Sanatan Dharma) should be eradicated like that. After the statement, the political parties got divided over “Sanatan Dharma”. With this, now another debate has also started over “hate speech” allegedly made by both factions who supported and opposed Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statement.

A group of eminent people has approached Chief Justice of India to take suo moto cognisance against “hate speech” made by Udhayanidhi while another faction questioned the bounty announced by Ayodhya Seer Paramhans Acharya for TN Minister.

On Ayodhya Seer Paramhans Acharya’s death threat to TN Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge says, “…If you are going to issue a death threat or put a bounty of Rs 10 crores on anybody who says anything, then what is the difference between you and other radicals?  Doesn’t your religion teach mercy and equality…”

On Tuesday, Ayodhya Seer Paramhans Acharya reiterated his death threat to TN Minister. He said “If Rs 10 crores is not enough for beheading him, I will increase the reward, but the insult of ‘Sanatan Dharma’ will not be tolerated…Whatever development has taken place in the country is because of ‘Sanatana Dharma’. He should apologise for his statement…He has hurt the sentiments of 100 crore people in the country…”

In Tamil Nadu, DMK supporters in Vellore burned the effigy of Ayodhya Seer Paramhans Acharya’s for his death threat to Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on his ‘Sanatana Dharma should be eradicated’ remark.

Meanwhile, around 262 eminent personalities wrote a letter to Chief Justice of India, urging to initiate a “suo moto cognisance of hate speech made by Udhayanidhi Stalin that could incite communal disharmony and sectarian violence”, according to PTI.
