Can you guess which state in India hosted Tintin in India? The answer is Tripura.

Back in 1934, the Tintin embarked on his inaugural Indian voyage.

Nestled in Tripura’s heart, the Ujjayanta Palance is said to have kindled the creation of the Maharaja of Gaipajama’s grand residence in Tintin’s chronicles.

Recall the exhilarating ‘Cigars of the Pharaoh’? Amid Gaipajama’s lush jungles, Tintin’s plane dramatically crashed. What followed were encounters with captivating characters, a daring escape from a mental asylum, and an unexpected audience with the Maharaja himself.

Ujjayanta Palace, crowned by Rabindranath Tagore, features stunning architecture including ornate floors, doors, and ceilings. Now a state museum, it showcases art, culture, and crafts of Northeast India.

Built by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya in 1899-1901, it became a government possession in 1972-73.
