In the Whimsical Gardens of Sage Valley, a grand beauty pageant like no other was held to find the ‘Greenest of them All’. While the ‘Green Gals’ were busy in the green rooms, prepping themselves and asking, “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall. Who’s the greenest of us all?’ the organizers were busy in the hustle and bustle of last-minute preparations.

One by one, celebrities and crème de la crème of the valley were descending upon the green carpet to get papped. Mr. Carrot plopped his verdant foliage Fedora as he stepped down his swanky carriage. What caught everyone’s attention was that the dainty Parsnip appeared beside him as his plus one! The couple was followed by fair and rotund Mr. Rutabaga as he glided down the road hand-in-hand with the blushing Beetroot. Mademoiselle Cauliflower sashayed down the green carpet all resplendent in her ivory finery and made confident remarks about his niece Broccoli winning the contest hands down.

Under a brightly lit gazebo, sat the three judges- Mr. Spud despite his nefarious reputation of going around with every gal in the valley, green or not, sat self-assuredly in his seat and looked out for the newest herb on the block. The seat next to him was occupied by Mr. Tomahtoh with his monocle precariously balanced on his ‘I’. Recently back from ‘La Tomatina’ he could hardly contain his ‘Holas!’ and ‘De nadas’. The last judgement seat was occupied by Paprika Chilltox, a fashionista and former winner of the ‘Ms. Greenest’ crown who now preferred to go around in her vintage red gown.

A hush descended on the gardens as Garlic Clove took over as the Emcee for, he could produce the most sulphureous and obnoxious jokes. It was now time for the participants to flaunt their curves and make everyone green with envy with their svelte bodies. The slender asparagus sashayed gracefully, the cucumber donned a cool, cucumber-like confidence, and the spinach flaunted its vibrant, leafy charm.

The competition was fierce, with the zucchini telling corny jokes, the broccoli showing off its “tree-mendous” florets, and the lettuce displaying its crisp elegance. Even the peas formed a cute synchronized dance troupe. The French Beans flaunted their edgy looks and enchanted the audience with their affected ‘ja’.

In the midst of all this hullabaloo, out came Ladyfinger, a slim and elegant contestant whose short height could not diminish her exalted confidence. Her confidence was as tall as a towering beanstalk. With a satin green gown that shimmered like emerald and a delicate tiara of dewdrops, Ladyfinger exuded a charm that captured the audience’s hearts. Her sharp wit came as a cherry on the cake as she cracked a few witty puns that had the crowd in stitches. It was evident that beauty was not just about size, but about personality and confidence.

As the judges munched on their snacks, they knew this quirky contest was not a competition based on physical appearance alone but a celebration of nature’s beauty in all its delicious, green glory. No prizes for guessing that Ladyfinger was crowned ‘The Greenest Beauty’ for her unique charm and confidence, and Cucumber was declared the Runners up for its astringent charm and cool confidence.

Thus, the “Greenest Gal” pageant came to a close, reminding everyone that beauty comes in all forms, even in the humblest of vegetables.
