‘Stop Me If You Can’: Abhishek Banerjee To Attend TMC’s Delhi Protest, Skip ED Summons On Oct 3

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee has said that he would skip the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for October 3 in connection with the teachers’ recruitment scam, and would rather attend the party’s protest in Delhi. Challenging the authorities, he said, “Stop me if you can.” He hinted at ED issuing him summons on the days when he has some important engagements. Banerjee said that “no force on Earth” can hinder his dedication to fighting for the people of Bengal and that he will be joining the protest in the national capital on Oct 2 and 3.
“The fight against the deprivation of WB and its rightful dues shall persist regardless of the obstacles. No force on Earth can hinder my dedication to fight for the people of WB and their fundamental rights. I’ll be in Delhi joining the protest on Oct 2nd & 3rd. STOP ME IF U CAN!” he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

On Thursday, he shared the image of the ED summon and said the probe agency earlier asked him to present himself on a day coinciding with an important coordinating meeting of INDIA in Delhi, to which he complied. Banerjee took a veiled jibe at the Centre saying the present summon on the day of a planned protest exposes “those who are truly perturbED, rattlED and scarED!”
“Earlier this month, the ED summoned me on a day coinciding with an important coordinating meeting of #INDIA in Delhi. I dutifully appeared and complied with the served summons,” he said.
Now, today yet again they have served me another summons to appear before them on a day when the protest agitation for West Bengal’s rightful dues is scheduled in Delhi on 3rd Oct.
