India beat England in the fifth and final Test match of the series by an innings and 64 runs at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala on Saturday (March 9). In what was only the third day of the Test, England’s second innings was bundled out for 195 runs, well short of the 259-run first innings lead that India had taken in the match, implying no need for the Indian batters to walk out to bat for the second time.

During England’s second innings when the result seemed more or less certain with the England scoreboard reading 157/8 in the 38th over and Joe Root batting with Shoaib Bashir, Sarfaraz  Khan, who was stationed as a close-in fielder, sledged Bashir encouraging him to finish the match early. The Mumbai batter’s comment was caught on the stump mic. “Maar yaar jaldi, snow pe chalte hai upar, ghumke aayenge, chal!,” he was heard saying which loosely translates to “Hit it quickly and finish the game, we will go up on the snow for a walk.”
