Samsung Galaxy S24 Could Feature Titanium Body Like The iPhone 15 Pros – News18

Apple introduced the titanium body finish with the iPhone 15 Pro series this year and it seems that the closest rival for the brand is ready to follow in its path. Reports say that Samsung will also use the titanium material for its upcoming Galaxy S24 series. The new Galaxy flagship phones are expected to be announced at a Galaxy Unpacked event in early 2024.

One tipster by the name Revengus on X has suggested that unlike Apple, Samsung could go full titanium for the Galaxy S24 models, which should include the vanilla and the Plus variant as well. However, they do point out that Samsung could make the titanium frames for the S24, while the S24 Plus and the S24 Ultra titanium frames could be sourced from its partners. Another tipster hints that Samsung will bring titanium only for the Ultra variant, which sounds more realistic.

Apple’s decision to use titanium for the Pro models has helped the company reduce the weight of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max which shouldn’t be the case with Samsung which is already using aluminium to negate the weight impact.

One also has to consider that the titanium body could be less durable compared to the existing materials used by Samsung, as we have come across through multiple drop tests of the iPhone 15 Pro Max recently. In fact, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra performed better in these tests, as the existing materials used to make the phone made sure it doesn’t break into pieces quickly.

In addition to using titanium, Samsung is also expected to bring satellite tech to the new Galaxy S24 series, again, like Apple launched with the iPhone 14 models in 2022. The company could partner with a satellite tech provider to enable emergency calls and messages feature for users in select markets. The company is also rumoured to be working on its first-ever Galaxy Smart Ring which could be part of the launch lineup in 2024.
