Rohit Sharma Makes Big Statement On Retirement With World Cup, WTC Final Comment

Rohit Sharma is among the finest batters of the current generation. The Team India skipper led his side brilliantly in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 where the Men in Blue eventfully fell short of the title, losing to Australia in the summit clash. The senior India opener is approaching his 37th birthday and recently made his stance on retirement pretty clear while making an appearance on the latest episode of ‘Breakfast With Champions’.

While he acknowledged that he has been playing some good cricket lately, he also said that he is not sure where life takes him.

“I haven’t really thought about retirement. But, I don’t know where life takes you. I am still playing well at this point in time – so I am thinking I am going to continue for a few more years and then, I don’t know. I really want to win the World Cup and there is a WTC (World Test Championship) final in 2025, hopefully India makes it,” Rohit said on the show in which English songwriter-singer Ed Sheeran also made an appearance along with him.

Don’t Think We Played Bad Cricket In ODI World Cup 2023 Final: Rohit Sharma

Rohit also spoke about India’s heartbreaking defeat in the ODI World Cup final last year at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

“We were all supposed to have one bad day (in the tournament) and that (ODI World Cup 2023 final) I guess that was our bad day. Don’t think we played bad cricket in that final, certain things didn’t go our way. But Australia were slightly better than us,” Rohit, who had himself got the team off to a good start with his brisk 47 off 31, said.

While India were bowled out for 240 in their 50 overs, despite India going unbeaten to the final, the team failed to defend the score in the summit clash with the Kangaroos chasing down the score in 43 overs to snatch Rohit’s World Cup glory.
