Thoughts about having self-awareness to the point you are acquiring the ability to be aware about your body, organs, cells within your body at a granular level on a constant basis can sound too tough to attain. But, acknowledging that this can be possible can help us to develop appreciation towards the inner workings of our body.

Self-Awareness can also be the best way for us to identify and know our gaps, and then work towards them. Often, we wait for others to tell our gaps, or we ourselves start acknowledging that we have gaps basis notions that are set in the society.

We cannot ignore the importance of breathing if we are to take a step towards becoming self-aware. Difficult times, times when we need to reset is when we can resort to focus on our breathing. Just a step back and reflecting and acknowledging that something that is so fundamental for our existence but is often overlooked due to nature of our daily lives can in fact be a solution for us to come out of so many situations (things for which we hunt for solutions elsewhere).

Controlling the mind is one of the toughest tasks and is challenging. Accepting and acknowledging this can be the first step towards figuring out ways that can help us to manage our mind in a better manner. Mind is what often makes us go for easier options, comfort etc. without us getting a chance to fully evaluate what we are going for, as the power of mind is quite a bit, if not controlled.

There can be two schools of thoughts – take life the way it is, be okay with how things are, but still deep down feel some gap/void in life. Another way is to keep challenging yourself, keep finding small things that can push us, get us to work outside of our comfort zones, in a way which can help us to discover what all this life has in it to offer us.

Identifying people with a similar mindset to what you aspire to become thus is very important. These people become live case studies / examples. Often when we feel weak mentally, these people can serve as good reference points to get us to push during tough times.

Finding activities that can help us to reset and be in the present moment is equally important. As I write this, I continue look up to people who are very disciplined and are pushing themselves to become a better version of themselves every day. If the thought and realization that we are on this Earth for a limited time starts to hit us daily – it would become difficult for us to waste time or pick up activities that may harm us. There is so much misery, suffering as well out there.

Creating a day that is filled with challenges that we know can help us to become stronger can be a good idea to explore. Once the challenge that we take up becomes easy/normal for us, then we may again reflect and think what more can be added so that push and the journey to become a better version of ourselves continues, without wasting time. Time never comes back.

As we start to do this with the sole goal of becoming a better person, a lot of benefits with discipline and self-awareness that we may not be able to comprehend can start to come and start to make our lives more joyful – I guess that is the beauty of this process, and as each one of us have a different story, the results we may get as we practice would also be different.

Let’s try to let the thought of self-awareness pass us at least once a day to begin with!
