‘Playing With Students’ Future’: SC Stays Karnataka Board Exams Results For Classes 5,8,9 & 11

The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the Karnataka High Court order that allowed board exams for students of classes 5, 8, 9, and 11th standard of the schools affiliated to the State Board. The court also ruled that the results shall not be communicated to parents and shall be kept in abeyance and not be taken into consideration for any purpose.
The bench of Justices Bela Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal slammed the Karnataka government for attempting to create “havoc” and great distress to students and their parents.
The Registered Unaided Private Schools Management Association Karnataka and others had moved the court against the Karnataka government’s decision to hold Board Exams for classes 5, 8, 9 and 11. The petitioners alleged that the Karanataka government proceeded with the board exams in an extremely hurried manner.
They challenged the high court order allowing exams and said that the high court did not grant the petitioners any time to approach the Supreme Court against its order.
The top court was also informed that the Karnataka School Polity Accreditation Council on April 6 directed all the schools to compulsorily publish the results before 9 am today (Monday, April 8) to prevent them from getting any relief from the top court.
