Punjab Kings hosted Delhi Capitals in the Match 2 of the IPL 2024, as the first ever double-header of the season was underway on Saturday, March 23. Punjab were playing at their new home, the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. Electing to bowl first Punjab restricted Delhi to 174/9, as no Delhi batter reached the 40-run mark.

In reply, Punjab started the proceedings well but were hanging dry out in the middle with the departures of their top 4, but Sam Curaan produced a stuning knock alongside Liam Livingstone, as the English duo guided Kings to a  wicket win.

 

Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, Match 3 – Match Report 

Kolkata Knight Riders hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Eden Gardens in the evening match and the match didn’t disappoint even once at any given stage. After getting a strong start, KKR’s batting order stumbled and were reduced to 119/6 as knocks from Phil Salt and Ramandeep Singh guided KKR past 100-run mark.

What followed later was pure mayhem as Rinku Singh and Andre Russell unleashed assault over the SRH bowlers, and KKR crossed the 200-run mark to set a target of 209. In reply, SRH themselves made a strong start and were cruising until the introduction of Sunil Narine, and the spin attack of KKR, alongside Russell, reduced 145/5 in 17 overs. With 64 needed off 18, Klassen plyed one of the greatest innings of the modern era, as his 63 made the chase a cakewalk with 6 required off 4, until a ‘certain’ Harshit Rana broke SRH’s hearts and KKR won by 4 runs.
