Oppo has launched its Reno 11 5G at Rs 29,999. In typical Reno tradition, it comes with good cameras and a sleek, premium design. The camera stars on the phone are the main 50-megapixel sensor with OIS and a 32-megapixel telephoto portrait sensor. The longish oval-shaped unit with distinct textures on which the cameras are placed on the silk-inspired back gives the phone a distinct look too. The phone also comes with a brilliant 6.7-inch curved FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, a good 32-megapixel selfie camera, stereo speakers and runs on Android 14 with Oppo’s new ColorOS 14. A 5,000mAh battery keeps it going for a day and more and gets recharged swiftly thanks to a 67W SuperVOOC charger. The only spanner in the spec works is the slightly old mid-segment MediaTek Dimensty 7050 processor.
The Reno 11 5G is a very good option for anyone looking for a phone that looks good and shoots great pictures, especially portraits, but it finds itself in the highly competitive premium mid-segment. These five phones could give it a real run for its money:
Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G: New Super Note On The Block
Price: Rs 31,999 onwards
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is the first Redmi Note to start at a price of above Rs 30,000, but it brings a lot to the table. And plenty in both camera and style terms to rock the Oppo Reno 11 Reno boat. It is the first Note ever to feature a curved AMOLED display and also comes with a special block design on its back that makes the phone stand out. It even has a special vegan leather purple variant.
The specs are impressive too — the display is 6.67 inches, has a 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz and comes with Gorilla Glass Victus protection, the MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra chip running the phone is a level above the Dimensity 7050 on the Reno 11, and the 5000 mAh battery charges much faster thanks to a 120W charger. In the camera department, the Note 13 Pro+ does not have the sort of portrait photography ability that the Reno 11 has, but its 200-megapixel camera with OIS and 4x lossless zoom is one of the best in the segment.
It runs on MIUI 14 on top of Android 13, but is in line to get HyperOS in the coming days, and also comes with IP68 dust and water resistance. A very Note-able challenger to any phone in the Rs 30,000 range.
OnePlus Nord 3 5G: The Nord In The Premium Mid-Segment Room
Price: Rs 29,999 onwards
The flagship of OnePlus’ Nord series, the Nord 3 5G, is another potential banana skin for the Oppo Reno 11 5G. Its design might be so elegantly understated as to almost pass unnoticed, but its MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor, although a little old, is one of the most powerful in the segment and can even handle high-end games, and its 6.74-inch full HD+ Fluid AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate might lack curves but is terrific for viewing content.
The phone also features a flagship-level Sony IMX 890 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS (although the other cameras are nowhere as good), and has a 5000 mAh battery with an 80W charging speed that beats the 67W on the Reno 11.
Many might also prefer the clean Oxygen OS on the Nord as compared to the slightly more crowded ColorOS on the Reno, even though the Nord is still running Android based on Android 13 also makes the Nord 3 a Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G headache.
Poco X6 Pro 5G: The Gaming Beast

The Poco X6 Pro 5G comes with a relatively plain design (with a dust-collecting back) unless you go for the bright yellow vegan leather option, and its camera setup, spearheaded by a 64-megapixel main sensor with OIS, is also steady rather than spectacular.
However, it boasts a magnificent 6.67-inch display with 1.5k resolution, and its MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra chip is a flagship level one and is considered by many to be the best in the sub-Rs 30,000 segment. Add speedy RAM and storage and good stereo speakers and the Poco X6 Pro 5G emerges as a gaming beast. It matches the Reno 11 in the battery department with a 5000 mAh battery and a 67W charger, and like the Reno, it too comes with Android 14 out of the box, with the much-talked-of HyperOS on top of it.
It lacks the beauty of the Reno 11 and its camera elan, but the Poco X6 Pro more than compensates with the sheer power it brings to the table at a lower price.
Honor 90: Curved Display And Camera Magic

The Honor 90 has got a lot to offer for its price. It comes with a very good 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate, and not just a very good 200-megapixel main camera on the back, but also a super 50-megapixel front-facing selfie camera.
Its design is a little on the plain side, but within that quietly elegant exterior lies the impressive Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, which is more than a match for the Dimensity 7050 on the Reno 11. The Honor 90 also comes with a large 5000 mAh battery which can charge at a very respectable 66W, although you can get only a 30W charger with the phone. The phone runs on MagicOS 7.1 based on Android 13.
Some might find it a little cluttered but photography fans will love the number of shooting and editing options it offers. The combination of chip, camera and display it offers could make those considering the Oppo Reno 11 5G have second thoughts.
Motorola Edge 40: The Sleek Stylish Moto
Price: Rs 26,999 onwards
In terms of sheer eye-catching design, the Motorola Edge 40 more than matches the Oppo Reno 11 5G. It sports a curved FHD+ pOLED display with a staggering 144 Hz refresh rate in front and comes with a premium vegan leather back in striking shades, the most attractive of which is the Viva Magenta red.
At 7.6 mm and a mere 167 grams, it is the lightest and slimmest phone in this list, although its 6.55-inch display and 4,400mAh are also the smallest in this group. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chip, which although not new, is considered more powerful than the Dimensity 7050 on the Reno 11.
The Edge 40 also comes with a decent 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS, a useful 13-megapixel ultrawide and a very 32-megapixel selfie camera, making it a good photography option too, although not quite in the league of the Reno 11 5G. And that small-ish battery gets a pretty fast-ish 68W charger in the box.
Add IP68 dust and water resistance, and the clean Android interface that is a Motorola trademark, and we can see many saying Hello to this svelte Moto.
