OnePlus ventured into the mid-segment with its Nord series of smartphones and in typical OnePlus fashion, has hit this opportunity out of the park as well. OnePlus has now added another Nord to its mid-segment equation, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G, which follows the core OnePlus idea of delivering comparatively premium specs at a competitive price tag.
It comes with a glass front and back (one with a very unique Celadon Marble green-ish shade) with a 6.7-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate and is among the first phones in the Indian market to run on the new AI-laden Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor. Both variants of the phone come with 8 GB RAM, with storage options of 128 GB and 256 GB, and well, support for microSD cards (a rarity these days) up to 1 TB.
A dual camera set up on the back comes with a 50-megapixel Sony LYT600 sensor with OIS paired with an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor, whole selfies and video calls are captured by a 16-megapixel sensor in front.
The phone also brings features like IP54 dust and splash resistance, stereo speakers, and remarkably, a massive 5,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging support and Android 14 out of the box with OnePlus’ famous OxygenOS on top.
All of this at a starting price of Rs 24,999 may seem like a fail-safe combo, but the Indian mid-segment is a very competitive space. This is why even a phone as well-specced and designed as the OnePlus Nord CE 4 finds itself surrounded by competition. These five devices in particular can be a real headache for the latest Never Settler:
Nothing Phone 2a: The Unmistakable Challenger

Ever since its inception, Nothing has done nothing but make headlines with some distinct-looking devices. And its recently released Nothing Phone 2a stands in the way of Nord CE 4. It is the most affordable Nothing phone yet but comes with the famous transparent back, minimal bezels Nothing aesthetic.
It sports a differently aligned LED arrangement (the Glyph UI) on the back which makes the phone even more standout even from its predecessors and a differently arranged camera unit on the back. Poco X6 Pro: A Mean Machine

If you have a mid-segment budget with high-end performance dreams, just go for the Poco X6 Pro. The smartphone comes with a flagship-level MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra chip paired with swift LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage that make the smartphone an absolute beast in terms of performance.
It also has a great 6.7-inch display with 1.5K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. It comes with a triple camera set up with a 64-megapixel main sensor with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor and a mostly decorative 2-megapixel macro sensor, while its selfie game is handled by a 16-megapixel sensor.

Oppo F25 Pro 5G: Looks That Can Kill

Another phone that is bound to catch many eyes (quite literally) is the Oppo F25 Pro. The phone comes with very stylish looks, especially its Lava Red shade, whose back is made of polycarbonate resin mixed with glass fiber which changes from dark wine to a slightly more diluted one when light falls on it. While it is very slim at 7.54 mm, it is still very solidly built and comes with P65 dust and water resistance.
It brings a beautiful 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a triple camera set up on the back with a 64-megapixel main sensor with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor and a 2-megapixel macro one. Topping the camera combo off is a 32-megapixel selfie sensor on the front. The phone runs on a decent but very mid-segment MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip and carries a big 5,000 mAh battery despite being super slim, with support for 67 W fast charging support. It runs on Android 14 out of the box with Oppo’s ColorOS 14 on top.
Its premium looks can kill even a phone that comes from a long line of flagship killers.
Realme 12 Pro 5G: Premium Looks, Versatile Captures

Realme partnered with luxury smartwatch designer Ollivier Savéo to create its latest offering, the Realme 12 Pro. The device comes with a truly different, premium-looking design featuring a circular camera unit with a sunburst design with gold highlights, making the Nord CE 4 look severely under-dressed in comparison.
The phone boasts a curved 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate, another touch of premium-ness. While the processor running it is not the fastest in this league – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor – it will be able to handle your everyday chores with ease.
A key strength of the phone is a very versatile camera arrangement with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX709 sensor paired with a 32-megapixel telephoto lens and an 8-megapixel sensor, one of the more impressive combos in this segment, where telephoto cameras of this size are still rare.

Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G: A Noteworthy Competitor

For the longest time, the Redmi Notes were budget-segment smartphones. Not any more. Now they go head to head with mid-segment phones and any phone in the vicinity of Rs. 25,000 would now have to face the wrath of the Redmi Note 13 Pro.
One of the biggest highlights of the phone is its 200-megapixel main camera with a Samsung Isocell HP3 sensor with OIS, paired with an 8-megapixel ultrawide and a 2-megapixel macro sensor (which frankly only occupies space). Selfies are handled by a 16-megapixel snapper.
The phone brings a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, running on the very capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip. It has a big battery at 5,100mAh with support for 67W fast charging.
It’s running on Android 13 topped with MIUI out of the box might disappoint some, but it is being updated to the smooth and swift HyperOS even as this is being written. All of this makes this Note a potential Nord-ache.
