New Year 2024: Kolkata Police Issues Traffic Advisory — Check Which Routes To Avoid

New Delhi: With the New Year Eve celebrations round the corner, Kolkata Police has issued a traffic advisory to avoid traffic snarls during the festive occasion.

Restrictions have been imposed on traffic movement on road intersections leading to Maidan from 4 pm on December 31 to 4:30 am on January 1 and again from 4 pm on January 1 till midnight.

The road intersections include AJC Bose Road and Chowringhee Road crossing, AJC Bose Road and Harish Mukherjee Road crossing, AJC Bose Road and Hospital Road crossing, Strand Road and Auckland Road crossing, Mayo Road and Dufferin Road crossing, Cathedral Road and Queens Way crossing, Chowringhee Road and Shakespeare Sarani crossing, and Esplanade crossing.

According to the traffic advisory, certain routes will be made one way, including Park Street, Shakespeare Sarani, Ho-Chi-Minh Sarani, Middleton Street, Little Russel Street, Russel Street and Camac Street.

Traffic movement towards Park Street from Royd Street and Free School Street will be restricted.

Vehicles will not be allowed to park at Park Street, Camac Street, Free School Street, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, Wood Street, Middleton Street, Little Russel Street, Kyd Street, Russel Street and Royed Street.

Additional vehicular restrictions can be placed around Indian Museum, Victoria Memorial, Birla Planetarium, Alipore zoo, Paresh Nath Temple, Kali Temple at Kalighat, Thanthania Kalibari, Lindsay Street, New Market, Birla Temple on Ashutosh Chowdhury Avenue, and Millennium Park, depending on the footfall on December 31 and January 1.

In view of the Kalpataru Utsav at Dakshineshwar and Cossipore, traffic restrictions have been imposed on Rabindra Sarani and KK Tagore Street crossing, Vivekananda Road and CR Avenue crossing, Grey Street and BK Paul Avenue, Maniktala crossing, Rabindra Avenue and BK Paul Avenue crossing, Gallif Street and Bidhan Sarani crossing, Beliaghata Road and AJC Bose Road crossing, Strand Road and KK Tagore Road crossing, BT Road and Raja Manindra Road crossing, BT Road and Dum Dum Road crossing, CR Avenue and MG Road crossing, and MG Road and Rabindra Sarani crossing.
