New Noida Expressway Expected To Ease Traffic Congestion – News18

A joint study conducted by the Noida Authority, RITES, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), and the irrigation department has resulted in plans for a novel expressway along the Yamuna River.

This expressway aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Noida and improve connectivity to the upcoming Noida International Airport.

This innovative bypass, which will complement the current Noida Expressway, is projected to bring much-needed relief to commuters dealing with expanding business activity and the impending surge of travellers expected with the airport’s operational debut in October 2024.

According to Times Now, the proposed 32-kilometer expressway can potentially improve traffic flow to and from the airport. It would follow the Yamuna Pushta Road and connect to the Yamuna Expressway. It would run from Sector 94, close to the Delhi border, to Sector 150, close to Greater Noida.

Even though an 11-kilometre stretch of the Pushta Road has been open since June 2014, its underutilisation due to infrastructural constraints has encouraged authorities to investigate the feasibility of the new route.

A nine-member group led by additional CEO Sanjay Khatri and including officials from NHAI, the irrigation department and RITES thoroughly examined the proposed expressway’s viability, scrutinising alignment details and logistical factors, reports add.

Khatri emphasised the importance of stakeholder collaboration in this quest, citing the NHAI’s involvement in land requisition, the irrigation department’s assessment of current road dimensions and land availability, and RITES’ duty for design and cost predictions.

With discussions ongoing and new site inceptions started, DGM (Civil) Vijay Kumar Raval emphasised the importance of presenting a detailed report, according to the Economic Times.

Meanwhile, officials expect increased connectivity to residential sectors around the river, including sectors 128, 135, 150, 151, and 168 as well as Greater Noida, in addition to traffic reduction. To encourage seamless travel, two rotaries at either end of the motorway will be reportedly built, providing commuters with easy entry and exit places.

Furthermore, Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M emphasised the project’s collaborative character, emphasising active engagements with NHAI to seek funding possibilities that are compatible with the chosen building strategy.

As Noida prepares to embark on this momentous path, the potential of a smoother, more efficient commute seems on the horizon.
