Musheer Khan Becomes Second Ever Indian To Score Multiple Centuries In U19 World Cup

ICC U19 World Cup 2024 South Africa: Musheer Khan scripted history on Tuesday, January 30, as he became the second Indian ever to score multiple centuries in a single edition of the U19 World Cup. The 18-year old scored tons against Ireland (118 off 106) and New Zealand (131 off 126) to create the record. Shikhar Dhawan remains the only other Indian to score multiple centurion and till date, remains the only batsman in the history to score three centuries in a single edition.

Shikhar Dhawan achieved the feat during the 2004 U19 World Cup in Bangladesh. The left-handed modern great managed to score centuries against Scotland (155* off 138), Bangladesh (120 off 148), and Sri Lanka (146 off 136) as the Indian batter ended up being the Man of the Tournament with 505 runs at a mesmerising average of 84.16. However, his heroics alongside contributions from Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu didn’t come fruitful as Indian team couldn’t even reach the final, which was contested between West Indies and Pakistan, won by Pakistan at last.

Musheer Khan is having an incredible tournament as he has been a revelation at the top of the order for the Indian side. The right-handed all-rounder is currently the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 325 runs, and has created a gap of 101 runs between him and the second-placed Shahzaib Kah of Pakistan, who has 234 runs. 

The opening batsman has contributed with the ball as well as he has 4 wickets to his name, with two of them coming in his man of the match performance against New Zealand.
