Confirming the news that Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal issued his first directions as CM from Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody, Delhi minister and party leader Atishi on Saturday said that even in such a situation, the CM is concerned about the people of the national capital and their problems.

Addressing a press conference, Atishi said, “On Arvind Kejriwal’s behalf, I want to assure all Delhi residents that even if he is arrested or is in ED custody, his work will continue. He sent me the instructions yesterday. Tears rolled down my eyes, as I got the directions from him (Ye direction padhke meri aankhe bhar aayi ki aisi paristhiti mein bhi Kejriwal ji apne baare mein nahi janata ke baare mein soch rahe hain)”.

Reading from the Chief Minister’s ED custody, Atishi stated, “Arvind ji in his direction said, I got to know that in some areas of Delhi, water and sewer issues are scarce. As the summer approaches, please make arrangements for water tankers wherever there is a shortage. Give appropriate instructions to the officials so that the people do not suffer any inconvenience. In times of need, seek help from UP-Rajyapal. He’ll also help you”.

It is to be noted that media reports earlier in the day had said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had issued his first direction from ED custody on running the city government. News agency PTI reported the news citing AAP sources.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Kejriwal on Thursday at his official residence in connection with an excise policy-related money laundering case. On Friday, a court ordered the AAP national convenor to be held in custody by the central agency until March 28.

“He [Kejriwal] has issued his first directive from ED custody. The instructions apply to the city government’s Water Department. Water Minister Atishi will announce the directions later in the day, party sources told PTI.

The AAP has stated that Kejriwal will remain chief minister even if he is sentenced to prison.
