Amit Shah’s Mega Rally in Kolkata

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to address a massive rally at Esplanade in Kolkata on Wednesday, as the city gears up for the event. In the lead-up to the mega rally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised small processions in various parts of the city on Tuesday, PTI reported. Key party figures, including BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar and senior leader Rahul Sinha, led processions in south Kolkata, while the leader of the opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, spearheaded similar events in Birbhum’s Rampurhat.

Majumdar asserted that Shah’s proposed rally would serve as a reflection of public discontent against the rising corruption by Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders and ministers since 2011.

“The people of Bengal have had enough of TMC’s misrule and corruption. Amit Shah’s rally will resonate with the collective voice of those seeking change and good governance,” said Majumdar.

Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing for the mega rally, which is expected to draw substantial public attention and political significance in the state.

Karnataka HC to Hear Shivakumar’s Appeal Against CBI Probe Sanction

The High Court of Karnataka is set to hear the final arguments on Wednesday regarding the appeal by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar against the sanction given to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the previous BJP government. The sanction enables the CBI to prosecute Shivakumar in a disproportionate assets case.

Additional Solicitor General S V Raju, representing the CBI, and senior counsel Uday Holla, representing Shivakumar, are expected to present their arguments before Chief Justice Prasanna B Varale and Justice Krishna S Dixit. The appeal revolves around the consent given by the state cabinet to withdraw permission for the CBI investigation against Shivakumar.

“We are confident that the court will uphold the principles of justice. The appeal against the CBI probe is based on legal merits,” said Uday Holla.

In an intervening application, BJP leader Basangouda Patil Yatnal filed a plea regarding the state cabinet’s decision to withdraw consent for the CBI investigation against Shivakumar, who is also the Congress state unit president.
