Voting in Maharashtra, which has 48 Lok Sabha seats — second highest after Uttar Pradesh (80) — will be held in five phases starting from April 19. The subsequent phases will be held on April 26, May 7, May 13 and May 20 and votes will be counted on June 4.

NCP Yet To Announce Candidates

Another Maha Vikas Aghadi ally,  NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) is yet to officially declare its candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. Amid eluding consensus amogn the MVA allies, the NCP(SP) leader Sharad Pawar met Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai on Sunday.

The party would need to expedite the process of selecting candidates as the last date of filing nomination for the first phase of voting, scheduled to be held on April 19, is March 27.

Prakash Ambedkar To Announce Next Move

After snapping ties with the MVA, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi chief Prakash Ambedkar said he would declare his next move on Tuesday, today. On Saturday, the VBA chief, grandson of Dr B R Ambedkar, said that his party has severed a year-long tie with the MVA claiming that the internal strife in MVA allies doesn’t seem to end.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) termed the decision as “unfortuante” and “one-sided”. “Ambedkar should have discussed with Thackeray before making such an announcement. It is one-sided and unfortunate,” said Sanjay Raut adding that he should reconsider the decision.

Both the parties had announced an alliance in January last year.
