Lok Sabha Polls LIVE: Please follow this space for all the latest updates and news on the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The nomination for the first phase of voting which will take place on April 19 started on Wednesday for 102 Parliamentary constituencies across 21 states and Union Territories. 

The scrutiny of the nominations will be done till March 28 and the last date to withdraw candidature will be March 30, said the Election Commission of India in its notification. The votes will be counted on June 4. 

States and Union Territories that would undergo the first phase of voting on April 19 include Arunachal Pradesh (2), Assam (5), Bihar (4), Chhattisgarh (1), Madhya Pradesh (6), Maharashtra (5), Manipur (2), Meghalaya (2), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Rajasthan (12), Sikkiim (1), Tamil Nadu (39), Tripura (1), Uttar Pradesh (8), Uttarakhand (5), West Bengal (3), and Andaman and Nicobar Islands (1), Jammu and Kashmir (1), Lakshadweep (1), and Puducherry (1). 

Three candidates from Madhya Pradesh, including one from the Bharatiya Janata Party filed nomination of Wednesday from Sidhi, Shahdol (ST), Jabalpur, Mandla (ST), Balaghat, and Chhindwara seats. 

In Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party declared candidates on six seats of Sambhal, Baghpat, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Pilibhit, Ghosi, and Mirzapur. 

Ziaur Rahman Burk will contest on SP ticket from Sambhal while Manoj Chaudhary will be the party candidate from Baghpat. Rahul Awana will contest from Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bhagwat Saran Gangwar will be the party candidate from Pilibhit and Rajeev Rai will contest from Ghosi.

Rajendra S Bind has been fielded by the party from Mirzaour seat. 

In the North East, INDIA bloc allies, the Left parties and Congress formed a committee to plan joint campaigns for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Tripura, said the leaders of both sides on Wednesday.

The 25-member panel will be led by CPI(M) legislator and opposition leader in the assembly Jitendra Chaudhury and veteran Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman as joint conveners, reported news agency PTI.
