King Charles’ Cancer ‘Caught Early’, Says UK PM Sunak As Monarch Undergoes Treatment

New Delhi: King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis has sent shockwaves through the United Kingdom. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told BBC on Tuesday, that the cancer diagnosis for 75-year-old King Charles III was made early. “Thankfully, this has been caught early and now everyone will be wishing that he gets the treatment that he needs and makes a full recovery,” BBC quoted Sunak as saying.

The British leader is maintaining regular communication with King Charles III following his cancer diagnosis and their communication would continue as normal, reported BBC.

“I think that’s what we’re all hoping and praying for and I am, of course, in regular contact with him and will continue to communicate with him as normal”, Rishi Sunak remarked, as per BBC’s report.

People from all corners have sent messages of support and well-wishes to the British Monarch. “Many families around the country who are listening to this will have been touched by the same thing and they know what it means for everyone”, Sunak said, as quoted by the report.

“So we’ll just be willing him on and hopefully we’ll get through this as quickly as possible”, he added further.

Buckingham Palace confirmed on Monday that Charles had been diagnosed with cancer and had begun treatment, sparking a flood of support from around the world. The palace said that during the monarch’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, during which a separate issue of concern was noted.

The King is said to have informed both his sons, William and Harry, personally about his diagnosis and Prince William is in regular contact with his father, the report stated.

The monarch, who ascended to the throne following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 2022, generally enjoyed good health, barring injuries from polo and skiing.
