The details of these attacks have been shared by Certo Software which is a cybersecurity firm based in the UK. The company highlighted that having lax policies for TestFlight apps allows cybercriminals or hackers to spy on iPhone users via third-party keyboards.
The situation related to these spying activities has to be a concern for Apple as many people are even using the modus operandi to sell their services to people who want someone to be monitored on their iPhones. The firm mentions that such nefarious services are available for as low as $30 (Rs 2450 approx) which gets them access to anyone’s iPhone covertly.
The process of how this works should be a major concern for the folks at Apple. It says the malicious third-party keyboard app can be installed on the iPhone, and it can get full access to the device, which helps them replace the default iPhone keyboard.
Keyloggers basically give anyone the access to whatever you are typing on the device, which means the hackers know your passwords, or any PIN that you use for making online payments and more. The fact that Apple is not able to track these apps during the TestFlight process needs a definite overhaul, because the third-party keyboards look eerily similar to the original iPhone keyboard.
But like any other security risk, you have some tips to follow which can help you avoid falling to a major mishap. The security firm advises people to check for the keyboard apps available on their device and if they notice any keyboard that they don’t recall installing, they should delete it right away. Chances are the hackers already have your details, so they are recommended to reset passwords for all their digital accounts.
