The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to initiate discussions regarding the future of head coach Rahul Dravid following the conclusion of his two-year term after the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 final. Following India’s heartbreaking loss to Australia in the World Cup final, Rahul Dravid stated that he requires time for introspection regarding his continuation with the national team. His contract with the BCCI officially ended with the culmination of the World Cup, marking the conclusion of his tenure, during which he guided the team to two ICC tournament finals and a semi-final.

After India’s defeat in the World Cup Final in Ahmedabad, Rahul Dravid addressed inquiries about his future, stating he hadn’t had the opportunity to contemplate anything beyond the tournament campaign.

“I haven’t thought about it. Again, I’ve just come off a game. I have no time to think about this and no time to reflect on this. Yeah, I will when I get the time to do that. But at this point of time, I was completely focused on this campaign. It was focused on this World Cup, and there was nothing else on my mind. And I haven’t given any other thought to what happens in the future,” said Rahul Dravid.

The BCCI appointed Rahul Dravid as head coach, granting him two years to prepare the team for three significant competitions, including last year’s T20 World Cup and the ICC World Test Championship final.

India To Play 5 T20Is Against Australia

Presently, the BCCI has not disclosed any plans regarding Rahul Dravid’s future with the team for the upcoming assignment, notably next year’s T20 World Cup in June. India are scheduled to face Australia in a 5-match T20I series starting November 23 (Thursday), followed by a tour of South Africa, featuring 3 T20Is, as many ODIs, and 2 Tests from December 10 to January 7.

Under Dravid’s coaching, India showcased impressive cricket, clinching the Asia Cup earlier this year, breaking their drought for a major title. However, the team faced defeats in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup last year and the finals of the World Test Championship and the World Cup.
