Wasim Akram, the legendary Pakistan cricketer, has criticised his country’s cricket board for not being able to maintain the three international cricket stadiums on its territory. Akram criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) but at the same time was all in praise for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a venue like Dharamshala where India hosted England for the fifth and final Test match of the five-match series.

Akram expressed his views on the Pakistani cricket show ‘The Pavilion’ in which he goes on to say how Pakistan can only dream of having a venue like Dharamshala.

“We can only dream of stadiums like Dharamshala and Queenstown. We have Abbottabad, it’s very beautiful but not developed,” Akram said on the show.

“We can’t even maintain three stadiums, how can we make a new one? (Gaddafi ki chhat dekhi hai) Have you seen the roof of the Gaddafi Stadium that they were showing with the drone?” he added.

“We can’t even control the three we have and can only dream of making a new one,” the 57-year-old said.

Dharamshala Set To Host Punjab Kings’ Home Matches In IPL 2024

After hosting World Cup matches for the first time last year and then a Test match against England despite being a hill station, the venue earned a lot of praise from the cricket fraternity as it offers a scenic location for a cricket fixture. The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala is now gearing up to host Punjab Kings’ final two home matches of IPL 2024.

The complete schedule of IPL 2024 is still awaited as the organisers are waiting for the announcement of the Lok Sabha Election dates before revealing the list of fixtures for the remainder of the T20 competition. Only the schedule for the first 21 matches have been announced so far.
