‘Firmly With I.N.D.I.A. Bloc But Want Congress To Introspect On Seat-Sharing’: JD(U) Amid Bihar Political Crisis

New Delhi: Amid political turmoil in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) on Friday said that the party is with the I.N.D.I.A. alliance but wanted Congress to do some “introspection” about its alliance partners and sharing of seats.
Refuting the rumours that his party was thinking of returning to the BJP-led NDA, state JD(U) president Umesh Singh Kushwaha said that everything is well in the ruling Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) government, reported news agency PTI.
“All is well in Bihar’s ruling Mahagathbandhan and the media speculations are driven by some agenda,” Kushwaha told reporters.
Notably, speculations are rife about JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar once again breaking ties with the RJD and other Mahagathbandhan partners in Bihar to form a government with the BJP.
He further stated, “I met the CM yesterday as well as today. It is a routine affair. There is no truth in the rumours doing the rounds. We also reject the rumours that party MLAs have been asked to rush to Patna,” the PTI report added.
He further asserted that JD(U) is with the opposition alliance, saying “We are firmly with the I.N.D.I.A. coalition”. A total of 28 parties have come together to form the I.N.D.I.A. grouping to take on the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.
Kushwaha, however, said, “We want the Congress, which is our alliance partner, to do some introspection with regard to its stance towards other constituents and sharing of seats. Our leader Nitish Kumar has for long been stressing on the need for early finalisation of seat-sharing deal so that we could concentrate on Lok Sabha polls,” reported PTI.
The statement of the JD(U) leader came in the backdrop of two opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A. partners, TMC and AAP, ruling out the possibility of a truck with the Congress in West Bengal and Punjab respectively.
When asked about the social media posts of Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, in which she appeared to have taken a swipe at Kumar.
The JD(U) leader replied, “We take no notice of that because Rohini Acharya is not an RJD office-bearer,” as per the PTI report.
