New Delhi: Director Rajkumar Santoshi has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by a Jamnagar court.

The case pertained to cheque bouncing. Ashok Lal, a resident of Jamnagar and the owner of Shreeji Shipping, had given one crore to Rajkumar Santoshi to make a film in 2015.

Raj Kumar had given 10 cheques of Rs 10-10 lakh to Ashok Lal in lieu of repayment of Rs 10-10 lakh loan, which later bounced. Not only this, when the lender Ashok Lal tried to contact Rajkumar Santoshi, he became unavailable, after which Ashok Lal filed a case in the court.

Later, when the court issued summons to him in this case and imposed a fine of Rs 15000-15000 on every cheque bounce, Rajkumar did not take the summons, but when he accepted the summons, he did not appear in the court during the hearing.

Today, the Jamnagar court has not only sentenced Rajkumar Santoshi to two years in jail, but has also directed him to pay Rs 2 crore instead of Rs 1 crore.

Meanwhile on the work front, Rajkumar Santoshi is helming ‘Lahore: 1947’ which also stars Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta and is produced by Aamir Khan.

ABP News tried to get a response from Rajkumar Santoshi in this matter, but no response has been received from him so far.

Stay tuned for more updates.
