Election Results 2023: The conclusion to the state assembly elections will be witnessed on December 3 with the counting of votes to take place for Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana. The states have undergone elabourate preparations including a three-layer security mechanism for the poll results to be announced on Sunday while for Mizoram, the counting of votes and result announcement has been postponed to Monday.

Chhattisgarh Poll Result 2023: 3-Layer Security Mechanism At Each Counting Centre
In the wake of the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, anticipation and tension grip the state as it awaits the results of the polls, predicted to be a fierce battle between the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP. The polling in the 90-member Assembly took place in two phases on November 7 and 17.
The voter turnout stood at 76.31 per cent, slightly lower than the 76.88 per cent recorded in the 2018 Assembly polls. Security measures have been beefed up across all counting centres in the state’s 33 districts, including those affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE).
Chhattisgarh Chief Electoral Officer Reena Baba Saheb Kangale informed that a three-layer security mechanism is in place at each counting centre, news agency PTI reported.
Counting for the 90 seats is set to commence at 8 am in 33 district headquarters, with preparations declared complete. The process begins with the counting of postal ballots at 8 am, followed by the counting of votes from the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) half an hour later.
A robust team, including 90 returning officers, 416 assistant returning officers, 4596 counting personnel, and 1698 micro-observers, has been appointed to ensure a smooth and fair counting process, PTI reported.
Ambikapur Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma informed that three constituencies have been divided into five sectors, each sector being manned by a DSP-ranked officer. “We are keeping a strict vigil on any criminal-type element and will take strict action as per the law and EC directions,” he added. He also said that heavy vehicles will be prohibited from plying in the area where counting will take place.
In Kanker, women have been reposed with the complete charge of administration and counting votes.
The contest involved 1,181 candidates, featuring key figures like Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo (both from Congress), and former CM Raman Singh of the BJP. Notable battles include Patan, where Chief Minister Baghel faces a challenge from BJP’s Vijay Baghel, and Ambikapur, where Deputy CM TS Singh Deo faces BJP’s Rajesh Agrawal.
While the Congress swept the 2018 polls with 68 seats, leaving the BJP at 15, the current election outcome remains uncertain, with exit polls suggesting a closely contested race between the two major parties. In the fray are also the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and the Gondwana Ganatantra Party (GPP), with a three-way contest emerging in several seats of the Bilaspur division.

Rajasthan Poll Result 2023: 40 Companies Of CAPF Deployed For EVM Security
As the day of reckoning approaches, Rajasthan’s Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta assured that stringent security measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and hassle-free counting process. The counting will commence at 8 am for votes recorded on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), with postal ballot counting starting at 8:30 am.
Proper arrangements have been ensured at the counting centres across the state’s districts, with 2,524 tables set up for counting votes received in the EVMs at 51,890 polling centres. A total of 4,245 rounds of counting will be conducted, PTI reported.
Gupta stated that a three-tier security arrangement has been deployed for anyone entering the counting venue to ensure there is no disturbance.
Tight security arrangements include the deployment of 40 companies of Central Armed Police Forces for EVM security, 36 companies of Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC) at counting centres, and 99 companies of RAC across districts to maintain law and order, as per PTI’s report.
“No one would be allowed to enter without proper frisking… The traffic has also been diverted. The place for parking vehicles has also been marked. There is no permission for anyone to carry out any procession after the results. The candidate can go to their office or residence after the result,” Jaipur Commissioner Of Police Biju George Joseph told news agency ANI.
Balod District Magistrate Kuldeep Sharma informed that after the counting of votes is completed, slips from five random VVPAT machines will also be counted in each assembly constituency.
Over 4.36 lakh voters have utilised postal ballots, and the results are expected to be declared on time without any errors or delays.
Here the contest is between the ruling Congress and the BJP while the AAP is also trying its luck in the polls. Rajasthan has been witnessing a ‘revolving door’ trend in the past decades whether on not it continues will revealed on Sunday.

Madhya Pradesh Poll Result 2023: Manpower Of Nearly 1000 People In Counting Arrangements, Dry Day Declared
In Madhya Pradesh, the incumbent BJP is in a straight contest with the Congress for 230 assembly seats. The state witnessed a record voter turnout of 77.82 per cent (including postal ballots) during the single-phase assembly polls held on November 17, recording a 2.19 per cent increase from the 2018 elections.
Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan stated that all necessary preparations for the counting have been completed. With 692 tables designated for the counting of postal ballots and 4,369 tables for EVM counting, the process begins at 8 am.
Here too the robust security arrangements include a three-tier security setup. “All arrangements have been made for conducting the counting and all the district returning officers, police commissioners and superintendent of police were directed to follow necessary security protocols. The government has declared the day of counting a ‘dry’ day, during which all wine and liquor shops shall remain closed,” he said, as quoted by PTI.
Rajesh Singh Chandel, Superintendent of Police, Gwalior said, “There is a combination of three layers of CAPF, SF, and district police… We have also made arrangements to avoid any mismanagement in the city… There is a manpower of nearly 1000 people in the counting arrangements… The elections took place smoothly, and I hope counting will also happen in a smooth manner… Everything will be done with transparency and as per the rules…”
The EVMs hold the electoral fate of 2,533 candidates, including prominent figures like Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, former CM Kamal Nath, and BJP Union ministers – Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Patel, and Faggan Singh Kulaste.

Telangana Poll Result 2023: Over 500 Polling Stations In State
Telangana, after a peaceful polling day with a 71.34 per cent voter turnout, awaits the unveiling of election results. With the highest turnout in the Munugode Assembly constituency (91.89 per cent) and the lowest in Yakutpura (39.64 per cent), the southern state is set to find out its political verdict.
Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj detailed the counting process and said that each counting centre is equipped with 14 tables, except for six constituencies with over 500 polling stations, where 28 tables will be set up. Security measures are stringent, with a three-cordon security arrangement, Central Armed Police Forces guarding EVM strongrooms, and CCTV cameras monitoring the counting process, PTI reported.
The ruling BRS party faces a robust challenge from the opposition Congress and the BJP. Most exit polls hint at an advantage for Congress in Telangana.

Mizoram: 40 Counting Halls For Monday’s Results
Mizoram, a Christian-majority state, will have the counting of votes on December 4, a day later than initially scheduled. The Election Commission accommodated public sentiment, responding to requests for a change in the counting date as Sunday holds special significance for the people of Mizoram.
Chief Electoral Officer Mizoram election Madhup Vyas told ANI that the strong rooms have been guarded by the CAPF forces.
“For counting, we have 40 counting halls… Earlier, we had 22 general observers… ECI has posted 40 counting observers…These 40 counting halls are located in 13 locations. In all the districts, there is one location, mostly at the district headquarters. Since Aizawl is the biggest district and it has 12 assembly constituencies, there are three locations (here),” he informed.
“All 13 locations will be covered with webcasting and videography. We had undertaken a complete full dress rehearsal on Nov 27,” the officer informed about the measures, emphasising that uninterrupted electricity and internet supply will be ensured.
In a statement, the Election Commission clarified that the decision to shift the counting date from December 3 to December 4 was made after considering representations from various quarters.
Here, the ruling Mizoram National Front (MNF) is projected to be in a tough contest with the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) while the Congress is expected to be a distant third largest party.
