Call Of Duty: Warzone Mobile broke cover just a few days back and it has already left a mark in the gaming industry, not for good reasons though. COD Warzone was only available on PCs or consoles before this but it looks like Activision decided to maximise the profits via in-game purchases hence the costly packs on the mobile version. In just three days since its release, the game has garnered several negative reviews across the Internet, be it on the Google Play store, or Reddit or other places for that matter.
This FPS shooter kicks off with a huge download. The basic game on the Google Play store is around 1.5GB in size and then the in-game resource pack downloads will take up an additional 5GB of your phone’s storage. The loading visuals might offer high hopes for the game but you are likely be disappointed in the end. Let us have a look at the detailed review of the game below to explain the context better.
Call Of Duty: Warzone Mobile Concept & Gameplay
COD Warzone Mobile is a battle royale in which you will be pitted against a huge number of players, depending on the mode and map. For example, the Verdansk map will pit 120 players against each other in a match.
In classic battle royale tradition, you will jump off a plane in a squad of four and upon landing, you will need to scour the map to find suitable weapons. Once you’re armed, you start to look for your enemies on the map. When you spot them, the job is pretty simple – shoot to kill. Of course, the game doesn’t have one-shot kills, and you will have to keep shooting even when your enemy is down until they drop their loot. If you leave them be, they will heal themselves and might turn the tables around against you.
Of course, your mission would be to be the last man standing. So, standard battle royale rules.
Call Of Duty: Warzone Mobile Controls
The game offers you several options in terms of controls. For starters, you can choose whether you want to keep the fire on auto mode or manual mode. If you keep the fire on auto mode then all you will have to do is to adjust the crosshair and your work will be done.
There is a sprint button near your on-screen joystick which gives you an ease. Once you press the sprint button, the character will keep running and you will only have to change the direction of running when needed.
Overall, the game offers a handy combination of automatic controls and manual controls which would benefit players the most.
Call Of Duty: Warzone Mobile Graphics
The graphics on the loading screens seem to be quite realistic and mind-blowing. The detailing and the quality of the videos that are played in the beginning are top-notch. Staying true to its PC/console counterpart, COD Warzone Mobile delivers when it comes to graphics.
The game claims that the graphics will keep on improving as you play, meaning the more you play the better graphics you will see. But, the improvements were not that noticeable. If we talk about the matches, the graphics seemed to be decent and likeable. However, when someone shoots you during the game then your screen starts bleeding red, as in the colour red almost covers your whole screen and you might have some difficulties in even seeing your opponents.
Apart from that, overall the graphics were impressive.
Call Of Duty: Warzone Mobile In-Game Sound
The in-game sounds, in terms of an enemy approaching you or you running around and jumping over obstacles, seem to be very poor. If we talk about one of the biggest competitors, COD Warzone Mobile does not even come close to it.
In BGMI, you can hear the footsteps of your enemy and just by the type of sound, you can easily figure out where your enemy is located. But, unfortunately, COD lacks that which makes it hard for players to understand where their opponents are, and by the time they’re able to figure it out, the opponent starts shooting at them like anything.
Even if we don’t compare it to its competitor, then it doesn’t even fare well against its predecessor. The sound engineering done in ‘Call Of Duty: Mobile’ is much better than the one in Warzone Mobile.
Call Of Duty: Warzone Mobile Verdict
Overall, the game appears to be something that some players might not return to because there are several better options available in the market which demand much less storage. The game focuses primarily on monetisation and in-game purchases which is quite evident by the way they pitch it to the players.
It is important to note that the PC version of this game also did not fare well and was not received that greatly by the gamers. The developers decided to build the mobile version of the game on the same gaming engine as the PC i.e., IW 9.0, unlike other top games such as COD Mobile, BGMI, or Farlight 84.
Pros
- Decent graphics
- Good combination of auto and manual controls
Cons
- Consumes a lot of storage.
- Graphics are too heavy on the device. Ideally, you will need a high-end phone to run the game at its peak.
- Way too many bugs which will terminate the game at any point without any warning.
- Very poor sound engineering
- Monetisation-focused game to drive up the profits. The price for in-game purchases is also way too high and you can get premium games at that price on the Play store.
- Built on the same gaming engine as the PC version, making it not a good option for mobile gaming.
Final Rating: 5/10
Call Of Duty: Warzone Mobile is available to play for free via Google Play and App Store. This game supports in-app purchases.
