Buzz Grows Around Kamal Nath, Son Nakul’s Switch To BJP As Cong Leaders Head To Delhi

Madhya Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Kamal Nath departed for Delhi on Saturday afternoon, fueling rumors that he and his son Nakul Nath may join the BJP. To add to the hype, Lok Sabha MP Nakul Nath has deleted the Congress insignia and mention from his X page. During his time in Delhi, Nath is expected to make significant decisions to safeguard the longevity of his political career. He is most likely to meet with the top BJP leadership at the two-day BJP National Convention.

Along with them, 10 to 12 MLAs, 2 city-unit presidents and a mayor is also expected to leave Congress and join BJP. 

Amid the buzz of Kamal Nath switching to saffron party, BJP’s state spokesperson Narendra Saluja on his official X handle shared the image of Kamal Nath, son Nakul along with other leaders.

It has been reported that the Congress’s decision to deny Kamal Nath a Rajya Sabha seat has upset him. He was also upset about how the Congress leadership is ignoring him in state politics. The state Congress leaders hardly spoke with him before appointing Jitu Patwari as state Congress chief, and they never included him in major decisions or initiatives.

When questioned about joining BJP, Kamal Nath stated: “Why are you all getting excited? It is not about denying. I will inform you all if there is something like that.”

Meanwhile, when questioned if Kamal Nath will join BJP, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said: “…I had a conversation with Kamal Nath ji last night. He is in Chhindwara. He is the person who started his political career with the Nehru-Gandhi family…You cannot expect that person to leave Sonia Gandhi and Indira Gandhi’s families…”

BJP State President VD Sharma on Friday stated that the BJP’s doors are open to Nath and his son, and they are welcome to join.

Sharma asserted that numerous Congress leaders were dissatisfied with the grand old party’s rejection of the invitation to Ram Lalla’s ‘Pran Pratishtha’ celebration in Ayodhya, and that these individuals should “get a chance.”

When questioned about the buzz around Kamal Nath joining the BJP, VD Sharma stated: “So today I am telling you the environment, we have kept our doors open because there are people in Congress who feel that Congress boycotts Lord Ram, India has Ram in its heart. When Congress insults him, then there are people who are pained by this, who are upset, and they should get a chance,” ANI reported. 

Congress has suffered a significant setback with a flurry of withdrawals in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra ahead of the 2024 general elections. Dinesh Ahirwar, a former MLA, and Rakesh Katare, the Congress district president from Vidisha, joined the BJP on February 12. The Congress leaders joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of BJP state chairman VD Sharma and other senior party leaders in Bhopal, the state capital.
