Nominations For First Phase Of LS polls In UP To Begin On Wednesday

Nominations for the first phase of the seven-phase parliamentary elections in Uttar Pradesh will begin on Wednesday, an election official said.Eight parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh — Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina (SC), Moradabad, Rampur and Pilibhit — will vote in the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls on April 19.According to the Election Commission, the notification for the polls will be issued on March 20, while March 27 is the last date for filing of nominations.

The scrutiny of nominations will be done on March 28 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 30. The counting of votes will take place on June 4, the Election Commission said.This time the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has announced to contest the elections alone while the Samajwadi Party has formed an alliance with the Congress and both parties are part of the opposition INDIA bloc.The Rashtriya Lok Dal has joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance.In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 62 seats and its ally Apna Dal (S) two seats, decimating the SP-BSP alliance.

Sulking BJP Leader Sadananda Gowda Hints He Will Reveal His Political Move On Wednesday

Confirming that Congress has sent him feelers, sulking former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP MP D V Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday said saffron party leaders have also reached out to him and that he will take a decision at an appropriate time.       The 71-year-old former Union Minister, who is upset over being denied the ticket to contest from Bangalore North again, said he has planned to call a press meet tomorrow to share everything.        

Congress people have asked me, also BJP, what decision has to be taken, I will decide at the appropriate time, Gowda told reporters.        Asked whether BJP high command has contacted him, he said he will share everything tomorrow, or else there will be nothing to say tomorrow.        

Gowda, who had served as Karnataka BJP President in the past, on Monday said he will share his inner feelings soon.        Expressing his displeasure over not getting re-nomination and against some party leaders without taking any names, he said there is nothing left to say that BJP is a party with a difference in Karnataka. 

Govt Extends Permission For Import Of Urea Through India Potash Till March 2025

he government on Monday extended the permission by a year for import of urea (agri grade) through India Potash Ltd till March 2025. According to the Directorate General of Foreign Trade’s (DGFT) notification, import of urea (agricultural grade) on government account is allowed through Indian Potash Ltd …till March 31, 2025. Urea imports stood at USD 1.81 billion during April-January this fiscal. The fertiliser is mainly imported from China, Oman and Russia.
