PM Modi To Visit Doha On Feb 14

Following his two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Qatar’s capital Doha on February 14, according to an announcement made hours after Qatar released eight jailed former Indian Navy personnel.

Modi will begin a two-day visit to the UAE on Monday, to expand bilateral ties in a variety of areas such as trade and investment, energy, and the digital domain.

“After completing his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the prime minister will travel to Doha, Qatar on February 14 afternoon,” Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said during a media briefing.

The foreign secretary stated that Modi will hold bilateral talks with Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and other dignitaries.

The announcement of Modi’s visit to Doha came just hours after seven of the eight jailed former Indian Navy personnel returned home on Monday morning, nearly three and a half months after a Qatari court sentenced them to death, which was later commuted to prison terms ranging from three to 25 years.
