‘Red Light on Gaadi Off’ Campaign Returns in Delhi from Thursday: Gopal Rai

In an effort to combat vehicular pollution in the national capital, Delhi’s Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, announced the revival of the ‘Red Light on Gaadi Off’ campaign starting from October 26. Last year, this initiative was briefly put on hold, raising questions about its effectiveness by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena.

Addressing a press conference, Minister Rai cited recent data analysis revealing a reduction in PM10 pollution levels while noting an increase in PM2.5 concentration attributed to factors such as biomass burning and vehicular emissions. In light of this analysis, the decision to reintroduce the ‘Red Light on Gaadi Off’ campaign was taken to reduce vehicular pollution in the city, he said, as per PTI.
