Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi along with other senior leaders such as Salman Khurshid, Digvijaya Singh, and Ashok Gehlot, left for Manipur on Sunday as the party is set to begin its ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’. The yatra – which will pass through 100 Lok Sabha constituencies in 15 states – will be flagged off from a private ground in Thoubal district. The preparations for the Congress march are in full swing in Khongjom, in Manipur’s Thoubal district.

Earlier, a special IndiGo flight through which the Congress leaders were to travel to Imphal for the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was delayed at the Delhi Airport, reported news agency ANI.

Meanwhile, Huge cutouts of Rahul Gandhi and several hoardings featuring him were put up on the streets ahead of the Yatra. The Yatra led by Gandhi will kick off today from Thoubal and it will cover over 6,700 kilometres over 67 days, going through 110 districts.ANI shared the visuals from Thoubal where the preparations were in full swing.

Gandhi left his residence for Manipur earlier this morning.

He reached the Delhi Airport around half an hour ago.

The Congress party asserts that the initiative is not merely an electoral campaign but a platform to voice people’s concerns, accusing the government of stifling their voices in Parliament. The yatra is framed as an attempt to reinstate the foundational principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity embedded in the Constitution.

Despite the party’s insistence on the non-electoral nature of the yatra, its timing is crucial as the Congress seeks to revive its electoral prospects following a lackluster performance in recent assembly elections.
