Mohammed Shami recovery update: Indian cricket team’s seasoned pacer Mohammed Shami took to Instagram to provide a major update on his road to recovery. Approximately 15 days ago, Shami underwent surgery on his injured ankle, for which he traveled to the UK. Now, the premier India pacer has personally shared new details about his rehabilitation journey, indicating positive progress in his recovery process.

Following his bowling heroics in last year’s ODI World Cup, where Shami emerged as the highest wicket-taker for team India, the 33-year-old has been noticeably absent from any cricketing action. Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Shami will be unable to participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and T20 World Cup 2024, further extending his time away from competitive cricket.

Shami shared a post on Instagram and also shared the photo of his injury. He wrote in the caption of his post,”Hello everyone! I wanted to provide an update on my recovery progress. It has been 15 days since my surgery, and I recently had my stitches removed. I am thankful for the advancements I have achieved and looking forward to the next stage of my healing journey.”

It looks like BCCI is prioritising maintaining Mohammed Shami’s fitness for team India’s crucial Test assignments, such as the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh and Australia later this year, over risking him for white-ball assignments.

India stands as one of the prime contenders to secure a spot in the WTC Final scheduled for June 2025, and the contribution of players like Mohammed Shami will be pivotal in aiding Rohit Sharma and the team to achieve this objective.

Shami could potentially make his comeback during the Test series against Bangladesh. India will host Bangladesh for two Tests and three T20 International matches in September 2024.
