Arvind Kejriwal News LIVE: The Delhi High Court will announce its verdict on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case linked to the alleged liquor policy scam. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma is scheduled to deliver the order at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. In addition to contesting his arrest, the Delhi CM has also contested his remand in the Enforcement Directorate’s custody. Following his remand, Kejriwal was later placed in judicial custody and is presently lodged in Tihar jail. The AAP national convener has raised concerns about the “timing” of his arrest by the agency, stating that it violates the basic structure of the Constitution, including principles of democracy, free and fair elections, and a level playing field.

Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Atishi has asserted that if Arvind Kejriwal opts to join the BJP, he will be released from jail within a day. Atishi, who is currently in Assam for a three-day visit to campaign for AAP candidates in the Dibrugarh and Sonitpur Lok Sabha seats, also criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“If Arvind Kejriwal joins the BJP like Himanta Biswa Sarma, he would be freed from jail within a day. But Kejriwal is a fighter. He will not surrender before BJP’s pressure tactics and will continue to serve the people of Delhi, Punjab, and Assam irrespective of whether he is in jail,” the AAP leader said.

Kejriwal’s was apprehended by the central probe agency on March 21 following the high court’s rejection of his plea for protection against coercive measures, sparking strong criticism from the opposition. On April 1, he was remanded to jail for a two-week period after spending 11 days in ED custody.

The liquor policy was initially introduced to overhaul the liquor industry in Delhi but was later annulled after Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena ordered an investigation into suspected irregularities associated with the policy. The ED suspects that the policy facilitated significant profit margins, with alleged bribe money being used to finance AAP’s election campaigns.
