Apple is set to release its groundbreaking mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro, in the United States on February 2. The Cupertino-based tech giant has revealed that this cutting-edge headset promises to transform any space into a personalised cinematic experience.

According to Apple, users will have the ability to enjoy content from popular streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, and Apple TV+, among others. The Vision Pro supports the download and streaming of a wide range of content, including TV shows, movies, sports, and various apps. Additionally, users can access the internet through Safari and other browsers.

In a bid to enhance the user experience, Apple has disclosed that the Vision Pro will debut with an impressive lineup of 150 3D movies, including titles like “Avatar: The Way of Water,” “Dune,” “The Super Mario Bros,” and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” Apple’s innovative approach includes providing wearers with complimentary 3D versions of eligible movies. Some streaming platforms, including Disney+, will enable users to enjoy new and popular movies in 3D on the Vision Pro, with plans to introduce exclusive Disney+ titles in the future.

Notably, the Vision Pro supports Apple’s newly introduced Immersive Video format, capable of capturing 3D 180-degree videos in 8K with Spatial Audio support. Apple has also curated a collection of immersive films and series, such as Adventure, Wild Life, and Prehistoric Planet Immersive, which will be accessible at the device’s launch.

For those frequently on the move, Apple is introducing a Travel Mode functionality designed to stabilise visuals during plane travel. Additionally, the Vision Pro includes a ‘Guest Users’ feature, allowing the headset to share specific apps and experiences with others.

The Apple Vision Pro boasts a micro-OLED screen with high resolution, promising an unparalleled mixed-reality experience. The company asserts that the headset can operate for up to 2 hours on a single charge, providing 2.5 hours of continuous video playback. To further enhance flexibility, users have the option to power the device using an external battery pack through a USB-C cable. Pre-orders for the headset will commence on January 19, with Apple emphasising compatibility with over one million iOS and iPadOS apps optimised for the Vision Pro.
