Apple May Ditch ‘Dynamic Island’ With iPhone 16, Allegedly Testing New Hole Punch Cutout – News18

It’s only been two months since Apple released the iPhone 15 series, and already the rumor mill is churning out speculation about the iPhone 16 Pro. Now, the latest rumor comes in the form of the iPhone 16 Pro having a hole punch cutout—which could essentially replace the Dynamic Island feature which debuted with the iPhone 14 Pro and is now present across the entire iPhone 15 lineup, even the vanilla models.

Apple tipster @MajinBuOfficial on X (formerly Twitter) said that Apple is testing a hole-punch version of the iPhone 16 Pro, but it’s not finalized yet. He says the decision will depend on what happens in March 2024. He added that we probably won’t see a hole-punch iPhone until the iPhone 17.

With that said, this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, as it is too early to predict what happens with the iPhone 16 Pro. It is likely that Apple is only testing the said iPhone, and it may or may not launch in the near future.

Also, if you think about it, Apple isn’t known for abandoning a heavily marketed feature after just a couple of years of implementation. Moreover, iOS has also been modified accordingly, and features are now built around it. So, it could be a while till we see the iPhone moving past the Dynamic Island, in favor of something more discreet, and something smaller.

The next mainline iPhones are expected in September, but the iPhone 15 series is fairly new, and you can now readily buy the models without paying a market premium over and above the MRP. We reported about black marketing surrounding the new iPhone 15 Pro models in September, where the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max were being sold for around Rs 20,000 above the MRP. This situation has gradually improved as more stock has come in, and the initial hype has faded.
