The tech industry is sailing through the AI revolution and in the midst of it, Apple fans are facing some disappointment though as the company is delaying the launch of anything related to artificial intelligence. Rival companies on the other hand like Samsung and Google, have already introduced a bunch of new AI features with their own language models. However, the wait for Apple lovers might be over soon as the brand is gearing up to introduce generative AI to iPhone, Mac, and other devices by the end of 2024.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook, during the quarterly earnings call on Thursday, mentioned that the generative AI software features are in the works and it will make its way to customers ‘later this year.’ The Verge quoted Cook as saying, “As we look ahead, we will continue to invest in these and other technologies that will shape the future. That includes artificial intelligence, where we continue to spend a tremendous amount of time and effort, and we’re excited to share the details of our ongoing work in that space later this year.”

He didn’t reveal more about the company’s AI plans but just confirmed that the company is surely planning something for its users and they are excited to launch it soon.

He added, “Our M.O., if you will, has always been to do work and then talk about work, and not to get out in front of ourselves. And so we’re going to hold that to this as well. But we have got some things that we’re incredibly excited about, that we’ll be talking about later this year. Let me just say that I think there’s a huge opportunity for Apple with generative AI and with AI, without getting into many more details or getting out ahead of myself.”

Hint Aligns With Speculations

During his remarks, Cook mentioned generative AI several times but never confirmed any specifics/ He only said that the company is planning for a big release this fall. His hint in some way aligns with the latest reports that suggest that the upcoming iOS 18 update will be the ‘biggest’ software update in Apple’s OS history.

Bloomberg in a report stated that Apple is planning to power its new iOS update with AI and that this will make the update a significant one for iPhone users.

If Apple is planning something for the fall event then the updates will definitely arrive with the new generation of iPhones, as every year Apple introduces the new iPhone series during its fall event.
